I Champion Education
Maureen McCarthey is a generous philanthropist who supports education and health-related institutions. McCarthey taught in Paramount for 10 years and for this reason, she chose Paramount to establish her own foundation to help future teachers reach their goals. As a result, several Paramount High School students were able to attend California State University, Dominguez Hills and pursue degrees in education.
McCarthey is also dedicated to supporting the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF). Her support for this organization heightened after friends diagnosed with cancer were successfully treated by doctors involved with this organization. In 2009, McCarthey was presented with the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation Rebecca Jefferies Award.
